Der Zauber des Pierrot
The Magic of Pierrot — a mime variety show
Slapstick, circus skill, mime.
When silence laughs loudest
Pierrot: the dreamer, the outsider, the clumsy charmer.
Stilt walkers, human marionettes, shop-window dummies coming to life and short circus turns keep the evening moving without losing the magic of classical mime. In a world growing louder and faster, Katja Grahl and Birger Markuse return this iconic figure to the stage, and with him the art of slowing down.
“Der Zauber des Pierrot” is no museum piece. It is a living, funny production for a contemporary audience. With fine facial work and precise physicality, Pierrot tells small stories about failing and succeeding, about love and the awkwardness of ordinary days.
It is a return to the roots of mime: a white face, large feelings and a magic that needs no words.
The production also crosses generations. There is slapstick for the youngest guests and poetic depth for the adults.
