How much does a life weigh? And what does the silence between two blinks sound like?
“Lebenslinien” is built from fragments: longing, hope, fear and moments of happiness. Running through all of them is a sharp eye for the paradoxes and the fractures in the situations people find themselves in.
The piece travels through emotional landscapes we all recognise. Without a single word, only through the body and the face, images of quiet intensity take shape.
A variety-hall figure guides the evening. She anticipates each scene and links them with texts written for the piece, drawing on the tradition of Brechtian popular theatre.
The production opens another dimension for mime. This is visual theatre you feel as much as watch, and it holds up a mirror: sometimes comic and grotesque, sometimes fragile and still.
